This past weekend Michelle and I were back at it again, doing what God has called us to do. Throughout our ministry years in Newark NJ, we had such a burden to reach families with the Gospel. We also had a deep desire to see marriages thrive within the Body of Christ at our local church. We truly believe that if our church was going to thrive we needed healthy marr and families. When we looked throughout our congregation, we noticed that there were only a handful of healthy marriages and families. We had great people in the church, but we also had brokenness within the homes. This bothered us greatly. When God called us to preach the gospel as Evangelists, our burden and passion to see marriages and families thrive continued to be our desire. In just over 2 years in our new roles, we have already done several marriage and family conferences. This past week, we were in Edison NJ with Temple Rock of My Salvation of Newark NJ for their Marriage Retreat. There was so much laughter and fun. The atmosphere was electric as couples were leaning in together to grow in their relationship. We had 4 sessions. I challenged the couples to first grow as individuals in their walk with God then with their spouse. It all starts with God. Everything hinges on our personal walk with God. He is our source and our authority. Michelle did such an amazing job during the wives breakout session. I was able to sneak into the back of the room to catch the ladies laughing and having a great time. Michelle is such an anointed teacher. Wisdom flows out of her. She is so practical and authentic. We conclude each conference with a powerful time of prayer. We recognize that marriages between a husband and wife can be intimate in bed, but can lack intimacy in prayer. Leading them through guided instruction in prayer is so awesome. I never assume that everyone knows how to pray one for another. We take the pressure off by helping couples connect with each other in prayer. God is so good. There is a lot of healing that happens during this time. Transformation happens. We thank God for how He is using these conferences for His glory.
